8:30 - Drop-off (DTC 405) 9:00 - Breakfast (DTC 401) 9:30 - Welcome, Introductions, Discussion of Itinerary (DTC 405) Project leaders will introduce themselves and provide a brief summary of the type of work that they do at the University. An overview of the week’s events will be discussed. 9:40 - "Two Truths and a Tale" (DTC 405) A participant will asked to give their names and make three statements about themselves, one of which isn’t true. The group will then vote using a show of hands to determine which statement is not true. This continues until all participants have taken a turn. This provides an opportunity for the students to learn about one another as well as their leaders as well as helping the students and leaders to learn one another’s names. 9:50 - Taking Pictures with Digital Cameras (DTC 405) Groups of students will be given a digital camera, instructed on how to use the camera, and told to take as many pictures throughout the week as the camera’s memory will permit. 10:00 - Campus Tour Students will be taken on a short campus tour. May be provided by Student Affairs. Waiting on response from Peter Hudlestone. 11:00 - Robotics Demonstration (DTC 405) Students will see a variety of robots used at the University with live demonstrations as well as videos. The strengths and weaknesses of robots will be discussed. Time will be given for questions. 12:00 - Lunch (DTC 401 or outside weather permitting) 1:00 - Virtual Reality Demonstration (DTC 107) Students will have an opportunity to experience virtual reality in an actual virtual reality lab on campus. Students will be encouraged to discuss the experience, and time will be given for questions. 2:00 - Computer Vision Demonstration (DTC 106) Students will see a variety of computer vision techniques including but not limited to traffic monitoring, bus stop monitoring, and feature tracking. Students will have the opportunity to experience tracking as they will have the opportunity to interact with an actual vision system. The limitations of computer vision will be discussed. Time will be given for questions. 2:45 - Open Robotics/Vision Discussion (DTC 405) Students will be asked a number of open ended questions involving robotics and vision. 3:30 - Pick-up (DTC 405) |
