8:30 - Drop off (DTC 405) 9:00 - Breakfast (DTC 401) 9:15 - Welcome and Discussion of Itinerary (DTC 405) Project leaders will welcome students and outline the day’s events. 9:30 - Discussion about LED Components (DTC 405) The students will view a short presentation about the parts that are needed to create a flashing LED and will be given an opportunity to ask questions. 10:30 - Creation of Simple Circuit Board (EE/CSci 2-140B, Undergrad Robotics Lab) Students will use soldering irons to place components such as light emitting diodes (LEDs), resistors, and battery holders on a basic circuit board to create a functioning flashing LED which they may keep. (Instructions) 12:00 - Lunch (DTC 401 or outside weather permitting) 1:00 - Building Palm Pilot Robot Kits (DTC 405) Students will be divided into groups and given PPRK kits. They will then be instructed on building a PPRK from the kits using basic hand tools. (Instructions) 3:30 - Pick-up (DTC 405) |
